Description

Photo 3: View towards the north of the south-facing Pejepscot quarry wall showing gently east dipping granofels of the Vassalboro Group, undifferentiated (SOvu). A close-up view of the granofels is provided in Photo 4. The lighter colored rocks cutting across the granofels are tabular intrusions of granite. These granite dikes and sills formed when hot fluid magma flowed through cracks in the metamorphic rocks deep underground and then solidified in place. Pejepscot Quarry, Quarry Road, Topsham.
