Photo 5: Strongly foliated calc-silicate layers of the Patch Mountain Member of the Sangerville Formation (Ssp). The raised areas in the rock are rich in more resistant calcium silicate minerals (diopside, actinolite, calcic plagioclase), whereas the recessed layers are rich in more easily weathered calcite. Eastern shore of Lake Auburn, Auburn.
