Description

Photo 8: View down on the top surface of an outcrop of Cape Elizabeth Formation (Oce). The lighter colored layers are quartzo-feldspathic biotite granofels and the darker colored layers are biotite-rich schist. Prior to metamorphism, these were alternating beds of quartz- and feldspar-rich sand and fine-grained mudstone that had been deposited on an ancient seafloor. The elongate white segregations represent pods of deformed granite. Youngs Lane, Phippsburg.
