Description

Photo 7: Very rusty weathering, sulfidic, mica schist in the marble, amphibolite, and rusty-weathering schist member of the Casco Bay Group (Ocbm). The rusty weathering of this rock surface is due to the oxidation of fine-grained iron sulfide minerals in the rock. Note that similar very rusty weathering rocks are found in the rusty-weathering schist and granofels member of the Cape Elizabeth Formation (Ocer). East side Tottman Cove, north of North Creek, Phippsburg.
