1901 11 07 MEC Foxcroft Train Wreck 002
Description
It must'a been quite a bang! At least 3 locomotives were players, apparently with #85 in the middle. Note the hook and cables pulling the upper locomotive. MEC #85 began life as #1 named: "The North Stratford" on the Upper Coos and Herford RR which the MEC leased in 1890. Upon arrival into the MEC fleet it was renumbered to 126 then to 85 in 1900. It was built by Rhode Island in 1872 and retired (scrapped?) in January of 1908. I suspect it sat on the dead line from November of 1901 until 1908. No location of other info with this old cabinet photo. /DL
