David Larrabee is a collector of railroad photographs and ephemera with a primary interest in content pertaining to the Maine Central Railroad prior to the company's 1981 transfer of ownership to Guilford Transportation Industries.
Mr. Larrabee grew up along the Bucksport Branch of the Maine Central in the 1950s and 1960s and the photography in his collection includes a mix contemporary digital railroad photography he captured on his travels as well as vintage images that were taken by other photographers. Most of the vintage Maine Central material focuses on black and white steam-era photographs taken prior to WWII, but his collection also includes color material from the early diesel-era.
In 2021, Mr. Larrabee partnered with the Maine State Library to ensure his digital collection was permanently accessible online to anyone with an interest in Maine railroad history.
