From the back of the print... "MEC #656 Extra - West Below South Gardiner - 1948. An ex Boston and Maine 3000 Class 2-10-2" The rail fans used to search the rail yards for locomotive to photograph but they didn't seem to catch nearly as many action shots like this one. Steam power in action like this has no rival... Alco Schenectady bought by the B&M in Oct 1923 as #3029 & sold to MEC October 1944. Scrapped December 1950 at the end of the steam era! /DL
