    1936 MEC #1203 at Waterville - Vollrath collection 000

    Description

MEC had 4 of these Class X 2-6-6-2s all from the B&M and frequently used in helper service on the Mtn Division. #1203 was originally B&M #3001 it was built in November of 1910 by Alco Schenectady. It only operated on the B&M for a year or so when it came to the MC in January of 1912. Of the 4 locomotives in this class it lasted the longest to be retired in 1935. This photograph apparently shows the engine on the dead line at Waterville years after it's retirement. From the Vollrath Collection, used with permission. /DL
