    Description

A classic Bangor railroad scene rich in period detail. The view is near the switch lead into the round house at the top of the grade south of Bangor yard. In the distance just over the coal pile in the tender is the long passenger car shed adjacent to the Bangor station at the foot of Exchange Street. 5 cross arms on the telegraph pole indicates a large number of circuits in the system then An out line of the complexity of the land line communications system is contained in several documents elsewhere in this collection. Best of all are the two trains, a west bound pulling upgrade lead by Maine Central No 653 and an eastbound caboose and outside braced box cars drifting down grade into the yard. The trains, the camera, and the photographer were well placed to make this snippet of history available to us... Unfortunately all backside of the photograph provides is month, year and location.... /DL
