Description

Photo 6: Asymmetric granite boudins are common in the sheared Passagassawakeag migmatite (DOpgs). The grain size of the two boudins shown here is different. The upper boudin has a better preserved igneous texture and the lower boudin is finer-grained suggesting shear-induced grain size reduction during deformation. The paleosome layer (P) above the boudins is an equigranular assemblage of quartz, plagioclase, and biotite. Approximately 2,300 feet southwest of Toddy Pond Road along the powerlines, Swanville.
