Description

Photo 12: Very rusty weathering, sulfidic, mica schist in the rusty weathering schist member of the Bucksport Formation (Sbr). The rusty weathering of this rock surface is due to the oxidation of fine-grained iron sulfide minerals in the rock. Note that similar rusty-weathering rocks are found interlayered with biotite granofels in the rusty-weathering schist and granofels member of the Bucksport Formation (Sbrg). South of Browns Head Cove, Bristol.
