Description

Photo 9: Dark gray amphibolite of the amphibolite member of the Cape Elizabeth Formation (Ocea). The rock is composed primarily of dark-colored hornblende (an amphibole group mineral), and lesser amounts of light-colored plagioclase feldspar. These rocks are interpreted to represent metamorphosed mafic (basaltic) igneous rocks within the meta-sedimentary-dominated Cape Elizabeth Formation (Oce). Sasanoa River, Georgetown.
