Description

Photo 7: Medium gray biotite gneiss in the Casco Bay Group (Ocbg). These rocks are restricted to the eastern side of Inner Heron Island and do not correlate well with any rock types found on the mainland. The mineralogy of these rocks (plagioclase feldspar, biotite ± quartz and hornblende), along with a close association with amphibolite (Ocba) suggests they may represent deformed and metamorphosed igneous rocks of intermediate silica composition. Inner Heron Island, South Bristol.
