Description

Photo 7: View down on an outcrop surface of migmatitic Bucksport Formation (Sb). The darker colored layers are biotite and calc-silicate granofels (metamorphic rocks), and the lighter colored layers are deformed sills of igneous rock, granite and pegmatite. The term migmatite refers to a composite rock that contains both residual metamorphic rocks, and igneous rocks that may have formed during episodes of partial melting of the surrounding metamorphic rocks. Benner Road, Bristol.
