Description

Materials pertaining to the meetings of the Maine Acadian Culture Preservation Advisory Commission held in Madawaska on June 20, 1997 and in Van Buren on August 15, 1997. Richard Dumont chaired both meetings.

At the Madawaska meeting, Don Cyr and Bruce Jacobson discussed NPS activities. It seems guest speaker Deborah Robichaud presented, though there is no summary of her talk in the summary report.

In Van Buren, Annette White, a consultant for the Acadian Museum in Moncton, spoke on Acadian dress. Don Cyr introduced future guest talks; Bruce Jacobson discussed the final steps in the production of the brochure.

Also included is an agenda for the Maine Acadian Heritage Council meeting held immediately after the MACPAC meeting on August 15, 1997:
- Minutes of July 23 and August 8, 1997 meetings of the Board of Directors;
- Review of purpose of Maine Acadian Heritage Council;
- Discussion of 1998 projects;
- Status of IRS tax-exempt application;
- Other business;
- Proposed agenda, place, and date of the next Council meeting.

The attached file includes a copied draft of the NPS brochure circulated ahead of the Van Buren meeting as well as summary reports of meetings.
