Description
Materials pertaining to the meeting of the Maine Acadian Culture Preservation Advisory Commission held in Fort Kent on February 16, 1996 and chaired by Richard Dumont. Due to uncertain funding and a government shutdown, it appears this was not an official meeting of the Commission. In several places it is described as a "workshop."
Agenda:
- Welcome to guests and public (R. Dumont);
- Presentation by local historical societies;
- Working group discussion - heritage council (B. Cyr) and interpretation (S. McDonald);
- NPS staff report (D. Cyr);
- Time and place of next meeting.
Also included: correspondence from Don Cyr, Paul Haertel, and Bruce Jacobson (National Park Service); summary report of the October 1995 meeting in Van Buren; Interlocal Agreement to Establish the Maine Acadian Heritage Council (draft); proposed Heritage Council bylaws (draft); schedule of events for the annual sled dog race and the Mardi Gras festival; summary report of this meeting in Fort Kent (two copies).
