The Maine Floodplain Management Program within the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry works with the public, communities and building professionals to reduce the risk of flooding through effective floodplain management and mapping. The Maine Land Use Planning Commission serves Maine's citizens as the most comprehensive source on the State's important natural features. The Municipal Planning Assistance Program helps municipalities manage growth to enhance economic development and natural resource protection. The program staff also regularly provides technical assistance to local and regional planners, other municipal officials and volunteer boards on the development of land-use ordinances, interpretation of state land use laws.
