Description

Looking east towards Mattawamkeag this Post Card scene might be dated by the auto, 1910?. Both semaphores are down so no train orders are pending. A box car is spotted in front of the freight house, the water tower is placed so the east bound passenger cars are adjacent to the platform while the locomotive gets a drink. The lamp over the entrance to what looks like a tool house looks like a gas or oil lamp. There are two boys track side and 3 adults posing for the photographer... Looks like about a dozen telegraph wire pairs on the 3 cross arms. C 2019 the station still stands and there is a single seldom used track. The platform and freight house are long gone. /DL
