Description

No info with this old print. Location and host railroad are unknown. The link to MEC is the boxcar, which I suspect is headed to the scrapper. The locomotive is number 347 and just ledge able on the tender is a letter 'N...' which leads to many possibilities, New Haven or New York are most likely. Very few of these wood sided box cars survived past the 50s. Note the break wheel on the top of the car and the breakman's walkway. Plenty of manpower to clean up the mess. There is a Maine Central example of one being used as an office & storage car by the Downeast Scenic RR at Washington Jct ca. 2020. /DL
