Description

On March 3rd, 1931, Pervical Baxter donates to the State of Maine the first of 28 tracts of land in Piscataquis County. Those donations combined to form Baxter State Park, a wilderness area of more than 200-thousand acres, including Maine's tallest mountain, the one known as Katahdin.
