Description

Waterville College suspended operations during the Civil War. Restarting afterward proved difficult. Bowdoinham native, former Waterville resident and now a successful Massachusetts businessman, Gardner Colby, donated money to keep the college going. Grateful trustees renamed the school Colby University, today's Colby College.
