Description
Postcard depicting the mill of the Northern Paper Company in Millinocket, Maine. A handwritten note on the back, presumably from Alpheda Rice's hand, states: "I was raised here + Dad worked here."
The postcard is a match for an image in the collections of the Maine Historical Society (MHS) (Prints of original post cards of Witteman Brothers Postal Card Company). Description from the MHS: "Great Northern Paper Company was built starting in 1898 near the convergence of the West Branch of the Penobscot River and Millinocket Stream. The town of Millinocket, incorporated in 1901, was created largely by Great Northern Paper Co."
