Description
Group of workers pictured in front of what appears to be a large quantity of wood shingles. An annotation on the front identifies Alpheda Rice's father, Henry Gagné. The reverse gives the location as Portage Lake, where Gagné would have worked and possibly lived in the years after his wedding to Elsie Labonté, in 1910. The family eventually moved to Millinocket, where Alpheda, born in 1919, grew up. The years are approximate and based on contextual information from the collection.
