Description
Records of Westport, Maine (DAR Genealogical Compilation), Part 5. Originally compiled as a single volume with separately paginated sections including a preface (with Vital Records Book I) and a comprehensive surname index. Compiled by the Mary Kelton Dummer Chapter, Maine Daughters of the American Revolution, ca. 1934–1935.
Part of the Records of Westport, Maine (DAR Genealogical Records) series. Includes a transcription of the 1850 Federal Census for Westport, Maine, organized by dwelling and family number as recorded by the census enumerator. Entries list heads of household and family members with ages, occupations, and occasional birthplace information. Prominent family names represented include Bailey, Brooks, Colby, Dunton, Greenleaf, Hale, Heal, Hodgdon, Jewett, Knight, McCarty, McKenny, Moore, Nayson, Pinkham, Rynes, Sewell, Shea, Stevens, Tarbox, Webber, Willis, Whitten, Fowle, and related families. Compiled by the Daughters of the American Revolution from state and municipal records.
Other sections of this compilation include Vital Records Books I–IV, cemetery inscriptions, the 1850 Federal Census transcription, the Dunton family genealogy, and a surname index.
