Description
Records of Westport, Maine (DAR Genealogical Compilation), Part 4. Originally compiled as a single volume with separately paginated sections including a preface (with Vital Records Book I) and a comprehensive surname index. Compiled by the Mary Kelton Dummer Chapter, Maine Daughters of the American Revolution, ca. 1934–1935.
Part of the Records of Westport, Maine (DAR Genealogical Records) series. Includes transcriptions of cemetery inscriptions recorded on Westport Island, Maine, documenting burial grounds across multiple locations on the island. Entries typically include names of individuals, dates of birth and death, family relationships, and notes on monument condition or cemetery location. Cemeteries represented include McKinney, Greenleaf, Knight, Parsons, Shea, Dunton, Tarbox, Jewett, Pierce, Hodgdon, Brooks, and other family burial grounds. Compiled by the Daughters of the American Revolution from field surveys and local records, these transcriptions preserve genealogical information from stones that were damaged, missing, or difficult to access at the time of documentation.
Other sections of this compilation include Vital Records Books I–IV, cemetery inscriptions, the 1850 Federal Census transcription, the Dunton family genealogy, and a surname index.
The original preface to the compilation is included with Vital Records Book I.
A comprehensive surname index to all sections is available separately.
