Description
Visitor brochure and map for the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, issued by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Recreation, Department of Conservation. The brochure describes the Waterway as a 92-mile corridor of lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams in northern Maine, and provides information on access, registration, organized groups, climate, canoe trips, camping, winter use, recreational activities, safety, and trip-planning resources. It notes the Waterway’s establishment by the Maine Legislature in 1966 and its designation in 1970 as the first state-administered component of the National Wild and Scenic River System.
