In March 1994, the Northern Forest Lands Council released draft policy recommendations aimed at maintaining traditional patterns of land ownership and use in the Northern Forests in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York.

The council scheduled a series of listening sessions throughout New England and New York to receive public feedback on the recommendations. The sessions were scheduled as follows:

  • March 23, 1994 - Bethel Inn, Bethel, Maine
  • March 24, 1994 - Katie and Karl’s Restaurant, Camden, New York
  • March 28, 1994 - Hilton Hotel, Manhattan, New York
  • March 30, 1994 - Abbot Town Hall, Abbot, Maine
  • April 4, 1994 - Berlin Town Hall, Berlin, New Hampshire
  • April 7, 1994 - Brighton Elementary School, Island Pond, Vermont
  • April 8, 1994 - Holiday Inn West, Portland, Maine
  • April 11, 1994 - Colonel Town Community Center, Lancaster, New Hampshire
  • April 12, 1994 - Noble Hall, Vermont College, Montpelier, Vermont
  • April 13, 1994 - Holiday Inn, Ellsworth, Maine
  • April 18, 1994 - NH Health and Human Services Auditorium, Concord, New Hampshire
  • April 19, 1994 - Charlmont Restaurant, Morrisville, Vermont
  • April 22, 1994 - World Trade Center, Boston, Massachusetts
  • April 25, 1994 - William K Sanford Library, Colonie, New York
  • April 26, 1994 - Lakes Region Union High School, Orleans, Vermont
  • April 26, 1994 - Keddy’s Motor Inn, Presque Isle, Maine
  • April 27, 1994 - Long Lake Town Hall, Long Lake, New York
  • April 29, 1994 - Vermont Interactive Television at nine sites around Vermont
  • May 3, 1994 - Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, New Haven, Connecticut
  • May 5, 1994 - Queensbury Community Center, Glens Falls, New York
