Archive of the Northern Forest Lands Council
The Northern Forest Lands Council was established in 1991 following the work of the Governors' Task Force on Northern Lands and the Northern Forest Lands Study.
It was structured as a 17-member advisory, non-regulatory, non-profit organization charged with advising the states and federal government on forest land conservation and natural resource based economic development within the 26 million acre Northern Forest area and; seeking out and recommending a comprehensive series of strategies to conserve the traditional uses and ownership patterns on those lands.
The Maine State Library serves as a repository for collections related to the work of the Northern Forest Lands Council. Some of those materials have been digitized and have been made available here.
