Description

Photo 5: Biconvex granite boudins are common in the map unit of Passagassawakeag Gneiss lacking extensive dextral shear indicators (DOpgl). These boudins consist of a simple granite mineralogy (quartz, alkali feldspar, and plagioclase). The paleosome above the granite boudins in this photo exhibits an equigranular assemblage of quartz, plagioclase, and biotite. Sillimanite is commonly present in the dark, biotite-rich rock next to the granite boudins. Carver Road, south of Houstus Hill, Monroe.
