Description
Photo 8: Flow banding in gabbro (Sgd), alternating centimeter or so wide bands of slightly darker (more mafic mineral content) and less dark gabbro (less mafic mineral content). Rock surface is near horizontal with the banding near vertical. Interpreted as one of the pipes feeding gabbro up into the layered gabbro-diorite unit (Slg). Outcrop on the southeast side of Hardwood Island.
