Description

NOTE: The geologic history preserved at this spot is critical to understanding the regional geology. Great care should be taken to preserve and protect it from damage. MAP CAPTION- Photo 13: Close-up of Photo 12 showing a fold (antiform) in the unconformity, with gray rocks of the Simonton Corners Formation in the core of the fold, and green rocks of the Goose River Formation folded over the top. A vertical foliation (v) in the Simonton Corners is parallel to the axial surface of the fold. This vertical foliation deforms an older, nearly horizontal foliation (h) that is more prominent just to the right (southeast) in the Goose River rocks.
