Description
Materials pertaining to the meeting of the Maine Acadian Culture Preservation Advisory Commission held in Van Buren on August 23, 1996 (originally scheduled for August 15) and chaired by Richard Dumont.
The meeting featured a presentation about Van Buren's Acadian Village by Anne Roy; a discussion about the membership of the future Heritage Council; a report from NPS staff member Don Cyr regarding a traveling exhibit, promotional materials, and the sesquicentennial of Longfellow's Evangeline.
Also included in the packet: summary report for the June 1996 meeting in Madawaska; bylaws of the Maine Acadian Culture Preservation Commission; letters from Dumont to Maine's congressional delegation requesting support for Acadian culture; summary report of this meeting in Van Buren.
