Description
Materials pertaining to the meetings of the Maine Acadian Culture Preservation Advisory Commission held in Eagle Lake on April 18, 1996 and in Madawaska on June 28, 1996. Richard Dumont chaired both meetings.
Agenda items for the first meeting included a report from the Heritage Council working group, final recommendations by Don Cyr and Sheila McDonald regarding 1996 interpretive projects, and proposed amendments to the Commission bylaws concerning a verbatim transcript by a court reporter. The Commission did not meet a quorum, thus preventing a vote on changes to the bylaws. Don Cyr reported extensively on the National Conference of Heritage Areas that he recently attended.
The meeting in Madawaska involved a vote on the bylaws amendment, a presentation on the Acadian Festival by Claude (Blackie) Cyr, a report on the proposed Heritage Council's structure by Bruce Jacobson, and the regular NPS staff report.
The attached file includes correspondence and summary reports of both meetings.
