    Description

    C1895. MEC’s 2nd #49 a Class N built in April of 1892 by Rhode Island Renumbered 271 in 1900 and scrapped in March of 1913. Cyl 19x24 with 57 inch drivers. Photo taken at West Baldwin, date & author unknown. I'll take a guess... from left to right, fireman, engineer, conductor, brakeman, and station agent... Hummm, maybe... ! The MEC Box Car #3709 looks freshly painted. While a large number of locomotive photographs from this era exist freight car photos are relatively rare... West Baldwin is on the MEC Mountain Division at Mile Post P33.4 / ST97.6 /DL
