Description

Date, location and photographer are not known. MEC #149 a 4-6-0 class N was built in 1892 at the Rhode Island Locomotive Works it was renumbered to 274 in 1900 and scrapped in 1912. The basics aside this is somewhat of an unusual photo. There are apparently 6 MEC employees in this scene which likely include yard works as well as the 4 man train crew. The PRR 84000 box car behind the locomotive is a n ice addition but the gem of this scene is the RW&O box car in front of the caboose. According to Wikipedia, The Rome, Watertown, & Ogdensburg RR began in 1842 and was merged into the DL&W in 1882. /DL
