    Description

    Maine Central had 5 EMD road switchers (Class DS5A). 331, 332, 333 were SW7s bought together in 1950. Later MEC added 934 in 1951 and 935 in late 1935. I recall reading that these were originally bought for helper service on the Mountain Division and would have operated out of Bartlett, NH. Later they went east to Bangor and operated on the area branch lines for years, often seen on the Bucksport Branch operating in a pair servicing St.Regis Paper Company. Around 1970 St.Regis added a new paper machine & with increased tonnage demands these locomotives began operating in triplets... (EMD = Electro-Motive-Division of General Motors) /DL
