Description
This is the only 'seal' book I've come across. If I'm decoding the notations properly this indicates the freight car road name, car number, load date, its destination and the type of device used to seal the car doors. Tin or metal seals were still in use in the 50s and 60s to advise the receiver weather the car had been opened or not during transit. The change from North Side and South Side to East and West is interesting. Sometime around 1880 MEC changed from a NORTH/SOUTH to an EAST/WEST railroad as far as time table design was concerned. /DL
