State-issued license authorizing Joseph F. Cyr of Clayton Lake to teach in elementary schools in Maine. The certificate is valid to August 1, 1932. It bears the signature of Bertram E. Packard, State Superintendent of Public Schools. The certificate was originally issued in 1929.


Joseph François Cyr (1867-1945) graduated from the Madawaska Training School and taught in Frenchville, Fort Kent, Clayton Lake, Saint Francis, and Saint John, Maine. He became a school superintendent and served in many other public offices. He married Elise Morin in Frenchville on October 29, 1898.
