Description

Letter from Father Etienne Artaud, a Marist who became pastor of the Catholic parish of Saint-Bruno in Van Buren in 1884, attesting that Joseph F. Cyr's conduct is "sufficiently satisfactory to be able to teach in school wherever he may be appointed by those in authority."

Joseph François Cyr (1867-1945) graduated from the Madawaska Training School and taught in Frenchville, Fort Kent, Clayton Lake, Saint Francis, and Saint John, Maine. He became a school superintendent and served in many other public offices. He married Elise Morin in Frenchville on October 29, 1898.
