Description

A sign outside the Hamlin Memorial Library & Museum, in Paris, Maine, reads, "Oxford County Jail 1822-1896. Dr. Augustus Choate Hamlin acquired and equipped this building as a library and museum. In 1901 he presented it to the ladies of Paris Hill. It has been operated by the Paris Hill Library Association continuously since that time. 1974."
