    Description

    In 1868, Silas H. Niles entered the mercantile business in North Jay and a member of the firm of Leland and Niles. Five years later, her bought his partner's interest in the store. He conducted business there until 1926. There is evidence that the first social lending library was founded at this store in 1850.
