Description
Typescript history of taverns and inns in Hallowell, Maine, prepared as part of the D.A.R. Series in 1932 by Georgiana Hewins Lilly, Regent of the Mary Kelton Dummer Chapter in Hallowell. The item recounts early taverns, stage routes, innkeepers, notable visitors, and related local landmarks in Hallowell and surrounding areas that were once part of ancient Hallowell, including Manchester, Farmingdale, and Chelsea. The text includes captions for historical images or illustrations, but the illustrations themselves are missing from the copy that was digitized. The item was scanned from a copy in the Maine State Library’s vertical file for Hallowell, Maine.
