Description
Hiram Letter Requesting Removal of Samuel Burbank, February 13, 1860 is a letter the Cumberland Overseers of the Poor from the Hiram Overseers of the Poor informing the town that Samuel Burbank is “rich with fever” and his family have fallen in distress. The letter requests the Cumberland Overseers remove Burbank or otherwise provide for him and his family. Burbank was later admitted to the Maine Insane Hospital for “excessive politeness” and declared well enough to return home in June 1860.
