Description

David Sturdivant Bill for Supplies for the Town Poor, December 30, 1854 details expenses paid by the Cumberland Overseers of the Poor for supplies for the town farm and almshouse. Frequent purchases consisted primarily of food for the paupers living at the almshouse, including molasses, tobacco, butter, flour, tea, fish, and pork, as well as cloth, wood, and oakum. This purchase includes of beef, beef tallow, and mutton.
