Description

Charles Poland Bill for Supplies for Town Poor, November 18, 1851 details expenses paid by the Cumberland Overseers of the Poor for supplies for the town farm and almshouse. Frequent purchases consisted primarily of food for the paupers living at the almshouse, including molasses, tobacco, butter, flour, tea, fish, and pork, as well as cloth, wood, and oakum.
