Description
Bill and Settlement for Supplies for the Town Farm, May 27, 1844 details expenses owed by the Town of Cumberland Overseers of the Poor for supplies for the Cumberland Town Farm. Common purchases consisted primarily of food for the paupers living at the almshouse, including molasses, tobacco, butter, flour, meal, tea, fish, and pork, as well as cloth, wood, and oakum. The document includes a settlement in favor of the Cumberland Overseers, balancing their account and establishing that the Overseers overpaid for goods and services.
