Description
Cemeteries of Cumberland, Maine: Select Occupant Genealogies is a project of Cumberland Cemetery Association President Robert Storey, Sr., to compile genealogical information on the occupants of the Town of Cumberland’s six municipal cemeteries. In 2014, a new computer system to manage burial data and the sale of cemetery lots was instituted, and that system allows for the collection of genealogical data. Volunteers Michael Buhelt and Brian Jensen have contributed many of the initial 175 occupant genealogy sheets that appear in this volume, most of which center on West Cumberland families, including Doughty, Hulit, Leighton, Morrison, and Wilson. The Association manages six cemeteries: Congregational Cemetery, Farris Cemetery, Foreside Community Cemetery, Methodist Cemetery, Moss Side Cemetery, and Universalist Cemetery. This volume will be updated periodically as new data becomes available. This volume also contains a blank Burial Worksheet of Occupants of Cumberland’s Cemeteries.
