Bart Lanier Stafford, Jr. was born November. 1, 1891, in Mobile, Alabama. He moved to Brooklyn, New York and worked as a credit manager with a chemical company in Newark, New Jersey before the war began.
He enlisted August 5, 1917. He was laready a member of the National Guard and so entered the service as a Sargent in the 108th Supply Company in the US Army. As 2nd Lieutenant of the 30th Division, he took part in the Ypres-Lys and Somme Offensive. He achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant of the 30th Division in May 1919.
Stafford died October 18, 1969, in El Paso, Texas. He is remembered here by his grandson, who is a Maine resident.
