Description
A scathing political open letter by Col. Z.A. Smith of Portland, Maine, addressed to General Charles W. Roberts of Bangor, criticizing Roberts’s military resignation, postwar political affiliations, and candidacy for governor in 1875. Smith defends Unionist and Republican principles while attacking Democratic anti-war stances.
