In March 2019, Governor Janet Mills issued Executive Order 5 FY 19/20 establishing the Governor's Task Force on the Threats of PFAS Contamination to Public Health and the Environment.

The panel was charged with:

  • identifying the extent of exposure and risks to Maine residents and the environment from Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) chemicals; and
  • recommending public policy approaches to most effectively address those risks.

Members of the task force held a series of eight meetings over a period ranging from May 2019 to December 2019 to gather information and solicit input from the public and stakeholder groups. Their work concluded in January 2020 with the release of Managing PFAS in Maine : Final Report from the Maine PFAS Task Force, January 2020.

Meeting materials and committee documents are archived here for permanent public access.
